(Sayings of Imam Ali-an-Naqi (A.S

(Reading time: 4 - 8 minutes)
Compiled by: Syed Zainul Abideen, Tehran, Iran God O our Sustainer! (our Providence)We believe in what Thou hast sent down and obey Thy Messenger, hence register us amongst true witnesses. O the Sustainer (of our body and soul)let not our hearts go astray after Thou hast guided us, and bestow upon us Mercy from Thee. Undoubtedly, Thou art the best Bestower. I bear witness, “There is no God except Allah. He is one without any partner, exactly as God has attested for Himself. The angels, the learned and the wise from His creation have all testified to His Oneness: “There is no God but He, the Almighty, the Wise.” (Ziarate Jameah Kabirah) A person who desires (to know) God must approach you (Imams) to begin with, and one who knows Him as Single and Unique (Creator) accepts it from you. One whose aim is God must pay heed to you. The holy Quran states: Seek the means for guidance towards Him (God). (Maedah:35) (Ziarate Jameah Kabirah) God cannot be described except by those attributes by which He has described Himself, and how can His qualities be described when senses fail to find Him, & guess or conjecture has no access to Him. Imaginations fail to limit His excellence. The eyes cannot encompass Him. (Tohaf al Uqul P482) Imam Mahdi (A.S) I recognize you (as Imam), I believe in your coming back I testify your return (minor resurrection prior to major resurrection) I await your command; I anticipate your divine kingdom. God has begun (creation) with you(the light of fourteen sinless personalities)and with you God will end (after minor resurrection) God made you attain the noblest position of the blessed ones, the loftiest status of the closest ones, and the most exalted ranks of the divine messengers, the place where, no pursuer can approach and no seeker of superiority can surpass it, no overtaker can take precedence over it, and no ambitious person can covet to reach it – so much so, that there remains no close angel, no deputed prophet , no embodiment of truth, no martyr , no learned scholar, no ignoramus, no mean fellow, no accomplished master, no pious believer, no corrupt sinner, no stubborn oppressor, no defiant devil nor any other creature amidst them as a witness – but that God has made known to them the greatness of your task, the majesty of your authority, the grandeur of your dignity, the perfectness of your guiding light, the authenticity of your rank, permanence of your position, eminence of your place & status near God, and your esteem & exclusiveness near Him, & closeness of your station to Him. I believe in your secret and your manifest, in your present and your hidden. I believe in the first and the last of you (Imam Mahdi). I entrust myself to you and surrender to you in all affairs and my heart submits to you with firm and full belief and my opinion is subject to yours. I bear witness that your souls, your lights and your nature are one and the same (for all imams). I believe in you and I love and obey the last (Mahdi A.F) of you as much as I loved and obeyed the first of you. I flee towards the Mighty and Majestic God from your enemies, false deities, evil powers, satanic devils and their factions, who were oppressive towards you, the rejecters of your rights, the deserters of your divine authority, the usurpers of your heritage, the doubters of your status , the deviators from your right path and from all intimate groups who are against you and from all rulers except you and from sham Imams (A’immatal Kufr)i.e. leaders who invite towards the fire of hell. (Ziarate Jameah Kabirah) Wrath Wrath & reproach invite hardships but wrath is worse than grudge & malice. (Rosa e Behar V2 P 366) A person who obeys God, the creator, is not afraid of the wrath of His creatures, and the one who arouses God’s wrath must be certain that God will allow the wrath of people for him. (RB V2 P366) The one who fears God’s wrath is respected & feared by the people and the one, who obeys God is obeyed by the people. (RB V2 P366) Wrath against subordinates & subjects is disgraceful & blame worthy. (RB V2 P370) Salawat and its benefits Imam Ali Naqi (A.S.) has said the following words about salawat on Mohammad and his Aal. And regarded our (muslims) salawat on you (Mohammad and his Aal) and what distinguished us with love for you through our salawat as a means of refining our nature, purifying our souls, cleansing ourselves and atoning for our sins. (Z.J.K Mafatih ol Jinan) Note 1: It is recommended to recite salawat on the holy prophet Abraham (A.S)& his Aal as well. Our Imams are included in the Aale Abraham (A.S). If salawat is recited before and after one’s supplication to God, his prayers is answered soon if God approves of it. Note 2: God has taught salat & salawat to the holy prophet (S.A) as follows: “I bear witness that there is no god except Allah (God), He is One, there is no partner with Him and I bear witness that Mohammad is God’s servant and messenger. O God! Send blessings on Mohammad and Ale Mohammad.” The hypocrites also recite salawat on Mohammad & his Aal in tashahud yet they murdered Mohammad’s Aal, Therefore a question arises here: “Would the Salaat & salawat of the hypocrites be accepted by God? Wilayat or love of Aale Mohammad & obedience to them is an essential principle of Islam. Parents Denouncement by parents makes a person aloof and reduces sustenance and ultimately brings abasement & humiliation. (B.A V78 P 369) Prejudice Shun prejudice as its effect is perceptible in you but it has no effect on your opponent with whom you have malice. (RB V2 P 370) Prejudice erases good deeds and arouses wrath. (Aayan ush shia V2 P 369) Fate or Destiny Fate divulges for you that which you could not anticipate. (RB V2 P369) Note a: It is said fate is both inevitable (takvini) and evitable (tashriee). Inevitable or unavoidable fate is written in a safeguarded plate (Lohe Mahfuz) it is unavoidable, as God puts mankind to test and trial under different fixed conditions. The evitable or effaceable destiny is written in the ‘Lohe Mahv o Sebat’ with changeable conditions. Example by prayers or alms giving especially on the Night of Destiny (Laylat ol Qadr), hence death is of two kinds 1- death in suspension or evitable death which is changeable 2- inevitable death- everyone has to die even after living for thousandsof years and God knows this final hour of death e.g. the holy prophets Jesus, Khizr, Idris, Imam Mahdi (A.S) will ultimately die by the will of God. Note b: A person, who thinks that he commits sins and crimes as they are written in his fate, lays the burden of his sins on God and blames Him as unjust when he punishes him; but God has mentioned in the holy Quran that He does not commit a particle weight of injustice (4:40) Note c: Everyone commits sins because God has given him energy- but this energy should not be spent in God’s disobedience, God has created Satan as a takvini creation for testing mankind and Jinn, therefore Satan is an inevitable creation by God. Those who turn a deaf ear to Satan by their own decision and follow the right path of God as shown by the fourteen ma’sumeen are successful in the test in this world. Test of the divine guides How am I to qualify the elegance of your praise and reckon your charming tests? You are the perpetual means of divine mercy from God, the treasured Ayat of God, the safeguarded trust and the door and criterion for the test of mankind. One who approaches you is saved and he who does not come to you is doomed. (Ziarate Jameah Kabirah) How people are recognized? a. People are recognized by their wealth& property in this world but by their virtues and good deeds in the Hereafter. (RB V 2 P 369) Sincerity A person who extends his sincere friendship & counsel at your disposal, should be reciprocated by your obedience to him. (TO P 480-483) Note: the 14 masumin sincerely lead you to paradise so obey them and do not be misguided by the tyrant politicians. Self conceit Self conceit is a hindrance in acquisition of knowledge. (RB V2 p 369)
